PISTOIA
A small pearl of Roman origins set in the heart of Tuscany. A crossroads between the major art cities of the region and designated Capital of Culture in 2017, Pistoia has a great artistic and cultural heritage and a rich and layered history.
The historical center, which also houses Palazzo 42, include some of the most well-known attractions of the city, such as the suggestive Piazza del Duomo, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, the lively Piazza della Sala full of characteristic bars and restaurants, the ancient Ceppo hospital, the Church of Sant'Andrea with a pulpit by Giovanni Pisano and the Basilica of the Madonna of Humility with a dome by Giorgio Vasari.
From the historic center, the uniqueness of the Pistoia area then winds its way through the countryside with fantastic views, endless expanses of vine rows and olive groves, and unmissable events with good food. Nearby is also the Zoological Garden, a park with over 400 animals, well-known ski resorts such as Abetone or Doganaccia and the Pinocchio Park in Collodi, completely dedicated to the history of the famous puppet

Pistoia keeps its traditions alive with many annual events focused on food, history and culture. Some of the most popular events are undoubtedly the traditional historical re-enactment of the Giostra dell'Orso (Joust of the Bear) which sees the four city districts riding to compete for victory every 25 July, the well-known anthropology festival Dialoghi sull’uomo (Dialogues on man) and Pistoia Blues, an annual music event with good music that welcomes internationally renowned artists to the main square.

Among the most popular annual events we must include the Carnival of Viareggio with its famous parade of papier-mâché floats, the suggestive Pistoia Blues music festival that takes place in the main square of the city, and the international fair of Lucca Comics & Games.
